Who are we?

The Breast Cancer Group is a service to all women in Denmark with breast cancer. We offer you support and guidance on a volunteer basis.

We are a nationwide group of about 100 female volunteers who have one thing in common: we have all had breast cancer. Some of us have had surgery; others have had additional treatment such as chemotherapy and/or radiation. Others again have first-hand experience of hormone treatment, and some have had a reconstruction.

All of us have experienced how important it is for women with breast cancer to have access to other women who have been through the same trying times and know what you are talking about. We do not just listen, we understand.

What do we offer?

We can meet and talk or communicate via e-mail or over the phone - you decide. Face to face conversations can take place at the hospital, in your own home, at the Danish Cancer Society’s Counseling offices, via e-mail or over the phone. And it is up to you what you want to talk about.

All our volunteers have a duty of confidentiality. Whatever you decide to tell us will stay with us and not be brought any further.
In addition to the above, we arrange relevant lectures, sports events, cookery classes, exhibitions, film screenings and short informative presentations on various topics. Usually these activities are held regionally, at or in close proximity to the Danish Cancer Society’s offices.
